What Does It Mean to Be “Certified”

This summer, I am hosting the first-ever in-person certification for teaching the entrepreneurial mindset. But this also begs two questions: first, what does a certification for teaching the entrepreneurial mindset involve and second, why does it matter?

I’m glad you asked.

And I’m dealing with the second question first: why it matters. It matters now more than ever before. Our educational climate is changing faster than ever and student choice is driving the market in both public and private sectors. And student choice is driven by engagement.

If our students are not engaged in their education, chances are they will not continue in that mode of education much longer, especially as more and more choices become available. This means that our model of traditional education, if it no longer engages our students, must shift.

The shift I am arguing for is a shift toward teaching the entrepreneurial mindset and this can happen at EVERY grade level and in EVERY discipline. This is not about teaching “entrepreneurship” but rather about teaching and instilling a form of thinking focused on growth mindset, developing grit, redefining failure, and seeking opportunity. And this is vital for EVERY student (not to mention the teachers).

So what is involved in a certification in teaching the entrepreneurial mindset? Well, here’s a small taste of the topics we will be covering:

-The attributes AND principles of the entrepreneurial mindset

-The stages of starting and running a business

-Managing money and the talking points of financial literacy

-The disruptive forces acting against traditional education

-Educational shifts toward teaching durable skills

-The keys to effective goal setting

These topics transcend entrepreneurship classes and impact every area of education–this is about moving from a silo-approach to teaching an entrepreneurial mindset and infusing it throughout the entire educational experience.

This particular training is sold-out, but reach out to learn about future training or bringing this training to your K-12 school.
